Prof. Dr. Barbara Thériault

Barbara Thériault is Professor of Sociology and member of the Canadian Centre for German and European Studies at the University of Montreal, where she teaches classical sociology and translates German feuilletons into French. Currently, she is Fellow at the Max-Weber-Kolleg of the University of Erfurt. Her research concerns the fields of sociology and anthropology, including in particular the issues related to diversity within the police forces in Germany.

Her last book is Die Bodenständigen. Erkundungen aus der nüchternen Mitte der Gesellschaft (2020). Among other things, she has contributed to The Oxford Handbook of Max Weber with a piece on Max Weber, Life Conduct and Contemporary Existential Cultures (2019).
